Simplistic Word Searches for a Complex Disease

Reaching Memories One Word At A Time

I created Grit To Grid out of necessity, driven by the belief that everyone deserves a fulfilling and engaging experience. One of my clients, who had mid-stage Alzheimer's, had grown tired of his daily games. Word searches, once a favorite, had become a challenge. The words were too small, and he couldn't remember how to circle them.

That's when Grit To Grid came to life! Taking into account his Jewish heritage, I designed a Yiddish word search specifically for him. The words were extra large, and I included clear instructions on the opposite page. To make it reusable, I laminated each page. The joy on his face was priceless! As he tackled the puzzles, he shared stories from his childhood. It was a magical process that tapped into his long-term memories and created a deep connection between us.

With the instructions easily visible on the opposite page, he felt a sense of independence and control. His laughter echoed the confirmation that Grit To Grid was truly something special, offering hope and possibility.

Keep The Memories Alive

Dementia and other cognitive disabilities affect millions of people worldwide. It affects a person's cognitive abilities, memory, and communication skills. While there's no cure for dementia, there are different ways to manage its symptoms. One effective method is through puzzles. Puzzles may seem like child's play, but they are powerful tools in improving brain function in dementia patients. Grit To Grid provides large print word searches in a variety of categories to help stimulate the brain, reinforce autonomy, and most importantly, meet our loved ones where they are.
